They are considered to be surgical treatments, but they are performed on an outpatient basis.

YAG laser: Fundamentally it is used for capsulotomy in patients who, after undergoing cataract surgery, develop posterior capsule opacity. It is also very useful in preventing acute glaucoma by means of iridotomy.



Green laser:  It is the ideal wavelength for the photocoagulation of the retina, and it is especially suitable for diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and retinal degenerations, and other vascular alterations of the ocular fundus.



Diode laser:  Nowadays it is mainly used in photodynamic therapy, which combines the injection of a photosensitive medicine and the application of this laser to treat age related macular degeneration (AMD). It is also useful in the treatment of vascular tumors of the ocular fundus.
